Where is Hedenstugan located?

Hedenstugan is located in Bergby, in northern Gästrikland on the northeast coast of Sweden, just north of Gävle. It is a peaceful countryside location close to forests, the coast, and several lakes, while still being easy to reach by car and public transport.

How far is Hedenstugan from Gävle?

Hedenstugan is about 25 minutes from Gävle by car. Many guests choose to stay here to enjoy a quieter setting close to nature while still being within easy reach of the city.

Is Hedenstugan suitable for a weekend break?

Yes. Many guests stay with us for a weekend break or short holiday. With only seven rooms, quiet surroundings, a sauna, an outdoor hot tub, and easy access to the coast and countryside, Hedenstugan is ideal for guests who want to slow down and stay more than one night.

Is Hedenstugan a good stop on a road trip through Sweden?

Yes. Hedenstugan is a comfortable and peaceful stop for guests travelling through Sweden, including those heading further north. Some guests stay one night, while others choose to stay longer and enjoy the area.

How do I get to Hedenstugan?

Stockholm Arlanda Airport is usually the easiest airport for international visitors. From Arlanda or Stockholm Central Station, there are frequent train connections to Gävle. From Gävle, you can continue by taxi, local bus, or pre-arranged transport. If you are travelling by car, Hedenstugan is easy to reach from the E4.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 16:00 on the day of arrival. Check-out is by 11:00 on the day of departure.

Early check-in or late check-out may sometimes be arranged in advance. Please contact us before your stay and we will do our best to help.

Do you have parking?

Yes. Free parking is available for guests staying at Hedenstugan.

Do you have EV charging?

Yes. We have charging posts for electric cars with type 2 sockets. Payment is made through the Monta app.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is normally served between 08:00 and 10:00. If you need an earlier breakfast, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to arrange it.

Can I pre-book dinner?

Yes. We currently serve pre-booked dinner for our staying guests. If you would like dinner during your stay, please contact us in advance. We also appreciate knowing about allergies or dietary restrictions before arrival.

Can I book the sauna and hot tub?

Yes. Our sauna and outdoor hot tub can be booked in connection with your stay, depending on availability. We recommend arranging this in advance, especially during busy periods.

What can we do nearby?

The area around Hedenstugan is ideal for guests who enjoy nature and simple outdoor activities. Nearby experiences include hiking, cycling, disc golf, coastal walks, sauna, hot tub, and seasonal outdoor activities. We are happy to give suggestions during your stay.

Do you have WiFi?

Yes. Fast WiFi is available free of charge throughout the hotel.

Is Hedenstugan suitable for couples?

Yes. Many couples stay at Hedenstugan for a peaceful short break with good food, nature, and access to sauna and hot tub.

Is Hedenstugan suitable for families?

Yes. We offer family rooms and the area is well suited for families who enjoy space, nature, and simple outdoor experiences.

Are pets allowed?

No. Pets are not allowed inside the hotel.

Is the hotel non-smoking?

Yes. Hedenstugan is a non-smoking hotel in accordance with Swedish regulations.

A cleaning fee of SEK 5000 will be charged if smoking takes place inside the hotel or guest rooms.

Is Hedenstugan wheelchair accessible?

The main entrance, the restaurant, and one of the family rooms have wheelchair-friendly access. Please contact us before booking if you want to check what suits your needs best.

Terms & Conditions

Payment

Cash is not accepted. We prefer payment by card. We accept major cards such as Visa, Euro/Mastercard, Maestro, and Bankcard, as well as Swish for Swedish guests.

Standard rate cancellation policy

If a reservation is cancelled up to 7 days before arrival, no fee will be charged.

If cancelled later, or in case of no-show, the total cost of the reservation will be charged.

Non-refundable rate

If you choose a non-refundable rate, the booking is fully non-refundable. If you cancel or do not arrive, the full amount will be charged.

Special conditions for groups

For group bookings, the following conditions apply:

• 0 to 7 days before arrival: 100% of the total booking

• 8 to 21 days before arrival: 50% of the total booking

• More than 3 weeks before arrival: 25% of the total booking

Group booking means a booking of 3 or more rooms or 6 or more persons.

Smoking

Hedenstugan is a non-smoking hotel. Smoking inside the building or guest rooms is not allowed.

A cleaning fee of SEK 5000 will be charged if this policy is violated.

Damage to hotel property

Guests are responsible for any damage caused by deliberate, negligent, accidental, or reckless behaviour. We reserve the right to charge the cost of repair, replacement, or any related loss of revenue if a room or part of the property cannot be used.

Removal of hotel property

We reserve the right to charge guests for any items removed from the premises without permission. The charge will include the full replacement cost and any related delivery or handling costs.

Tampering with fire safety equipment

Any interference with fire alarms, detectors, extinguishers, or other fire safety equipment is strictly prohibited. Guests may be charged for all related costs and may be asked to leave the hotel. In serious cases, the police may be contacted.

Inappropriate behaviour

All guests have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. The hotel reserves the right to take action if a guest behaves in a way that is inappropriate, unsafe, threatening, or disruptive to others. Depending on the situation, guests may be asked to leave the hotel.

Things left behind

If you forget something in your room, please contact us as soon as possible after check-out. We can arrange collection or return by post at the guest’s expense.

Items left in public areas and not claimed will normally be kept for one month before being donated.
